I modelli / The models

E poi, in ordine sparso, Escher, Klee, Banksi, Botticelli, Hopper, Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Miró, Rodin, Caspar, Signorini, Hayez, Sorolla, Schiele, Klimt…

Above all the great portrait painter Antonello da Messina: a magician for his psychological introspection of characters, for the framing of subjects, often cut out inside a (fictitious) frame inside the (real) frame, for the pose, seldom frontal, to increase the three-dimensionality.

Then René Magritte, for the essentiality of his figures in black, often portrayed from the back, a pose that at the same time gives both a touch of mystery, both invites the viewer to a dialogue / completion of the work.

Finally (last but not least) many photographers, such as Alinari, Elliott Erwitt or advertisers: above all women are more than once portrayed in the foreground showing their hands … those fingers that exhibit their nails, or bring a cigarette to their lips, brushing their cheeks, or curl a tuft of hair, evoke caresses and prolong the subject towards a just imagined body.

On the other hand, as the many selfies that invade social networks seem to tell us, what else matters if not the face? Of a woman, first of all …

And then, in no particular order, Escher, Klee, Banksi, Botticelli, Hopper, Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Miró, Rodin, Caspar, Signorini, Hayez, Sorolla, Schiele, Klimt …
