Trovo che Bernie abbia un mondo tutto suo e una vera unicità. Questa sottile miscela di colori e forme rende il suo lavoro una gioia per gli occhi. Da un punto di vista tecnico, penso che “Scegli” sia abbastanza ben padroneggiato, ma mi piacerebbe vederlo perfezionato. Penso che le sue composizioni siano ben studiate, i colori sono armoniosi e c’è un vero gioco di luci e ombre. Inoltre, la robustezza delle sue pennellate aggiunge molto più carattere al suo lavoro.

Qual è la forza del portfolio?
Da un punto di vista artistico, trovo che Bernie abbia un DNA piuttosto singolare, e la ricorrenza di personaggi acrobatici porta una sorta di “file rouge” in tutti i suoi lavori. C’è quasi una quadratura culturale nei suoi dipinti, e questo pone una serie di domande. Chi sono questi personaggi? La postura che assumono ha un significato particolare? Il suo lavoro è piuttosto misterioso e ci fa venire voglia di saperne di più.
Dove vede il revisore la possibilità di miglioramento?
In tema di miglioramento, penso che oggi sia davvero necessario trovare una coerenza nell’integrità dei propri dipinti. Leggendo un po’ di quello che Bernie ha fatto ultimamente, mi rendo conto che non c’è uniformità. Ha un certo stile per una serie, ma un altro stile per un’altra serie. È quasi come se due artisti diversi producessero il suo lavoro. Credo che Bernie debba trovare l’universo che gli si addice di più e attenersi ad esso il più possibile.
Chi o cosa può seguire e studiare Bernie o da chi può trarre ispirazione?
Per gli artisti che conosco, penso subito che Bernie derivi alcune delle sue influenze dalla pittura degli anni ’15 / ’30 del Novecento. Quei quindici anni circa sono davvero una fonte privilegiata per il suo lavoro, come lo sono Robert Delaunay, Roger de la Fresnaye e così via. Il suo lavoro mi ricorda anche molto il neo-cubismo.

Dove vedi l’artista nel mercato dell’arte in termini di pubblico, prezzi e potenziale di mercato stimato?
Da un punto di vista promozionale, penso che Bernie abbia un posto meritevole nel mercato dell’arte. I suoi prezzi riflettono la realtà del mercato odierno, anche se al momento è molto difficile. Penso che oggi sia necessario cavalcare questa tendenza del ritorno della pittura figurativa, per generare vendite e farsi conoscere ancora di più.
Infine, quale sarebbe il consiglio che daresti a questo artista, riguardo all’obiettivo di questa recensione?
In conclusione, penso che Bernie abbia uno stile che merita di essere perfezionato e rielaborato, perché tutti questi aspetti gli permetteranno di perfezionare ulteriormente i suoi dipinti. Ha uno spiccato talento e credo che il pubblico meriti di vedere le sue opere, quindi non dovrà esitare a candidarsi in numerose gallerie, a partecipare a mostre e a eventi di arte contemporanea. How do you judge this artist’s technique, for example colours, shapes, composition and dimensions, as well as material, means and process?
I find that Bernie has a world of his own and a real uniqueness. This subtle blend of colors and shapes makes his work a joy to look at. From a technical point of view, I think “Scegli” is pretty well mastered, but I’d like to see it perfected. I think his compositions are well thought out, the colors are harmonious and there’s a real interplay between light and shadow. What’s more, the thickness of his brushstrokes adds much more character to his work.

What is the power of his portfolio?
From an artistic point of view, I find that Bernie has a rather singular DNA, and the recurrence of acrobatic characters brings a sort of red thread to all his work. There’s almost a cultural squareness to his paintings, and it raises a number of questions. Who are these characters? Does the posture they adopt mean something in particular? His work is quite mysterious, and makes us want to know more.
Where do you see chances of improvement?
I think that today it’s really necessary to find consistency in the integrity of your paintings. When I read a little of what Bernie has been doing lately, I realize that there’s no uniformity. He has a certain style for one series, but another style for another series. It’s almost as if two different artists are producing his work. I think he really needs to find the universe that suits him best, and stick to it as much as possible.
Who or what can Bernie study or find inspiration from?
I immediately think that Bernie must draw some of your influences from painting in the 1915s and 1930s. Those fifteen years or so are really a privileged source for his work, as are Delaunay Robert, de la Fresnaye and so on. His work also reminds me a lot of Neo-cubism.

Where can you see this artist in the art market (about public, prices and potential)?
From a promotional point of view, I think Bernie deserves a place in the art market. His prices reflect the reality of today’s market, even if it’s a very difficult one at the moment. I think it’s necessary for him today to follow this trend of the return of figurative painting, in order to generate sales and make himself even better known.

In conclusion, I think Bernie has a style that deserves to be perfected and reworked, because all these aspects will enable him to perfect his paintings even further. He has an outstanding talent and I think the public deserves to see his work, so I suggest to apply to numerous galleries, to take part in shows and contemporary art events.
